Tissamaharama Tours

There are four stupas in Tissamaharama which are considerably large in size although not as big as the great Stupas of Anuradhapura. Tissamaharama is one of the 16 sacred places to Buddhists since it is believed to.

Have been visited by Lord Buddha. The Mahavamsa attributes the construction of the stupa to King Kawantissa, the father of the famous King Dutugemunu. Contrary to popular belief that the Mahathupa at Tissamaharama enshrined the frontal bone (lalatadhatu) of the Buddha, it has been established on the evidence contained in the Kirinde pillar inscription discovered in 1960, that it was a tooth relic of the left jaw of the Buddha that was enshrined in this dagoba. This will therefore prove that a tooth relic of the Buddha had been brought to Sri Lanka several centuries before the bringing of the tooth relic by Prince Dantha and Princess Hemamala in the 5th century AC during the Anuradapura period — the relic which is now housed in the Temple of the Tooth in Kandy. According to the Mahavamsa, Tissamaharama Stupa was later enlarged and restored by King III anga. According to Sinhalese chronicles, the next King to restore the Tissa Stupa was Voharaka-Tissa followed by Vijayabahu.

Kataragama Tours

Kataragama ( Sri Lankan Hindus believe that their tender Lord Murugan left India long ago to come and settle in Kathir-kamam (the place of light and love-passion) where his vilaiyaatal (divine play) continue even to this day. According to Islamic esoteric tradition. Kataragama or Khadiragama is the very place that prophet Moses journeyed to in quest of higher teachings from the undying Servant of Allah, al Khadir, the legendary 'Green Man'. And, as Buddhists know, the Tathagatas themselves have come to Kataragama with the object of delivering discourses on Dhamma )

Kirinda Tours

This ancient temple is believed to be the place where Queen Vihara Maha Devi, wife of King Kawantissa and mother of King Dutugemunu and King Saddhatissa landed in Ruhuna.

King Kawantissa built this temple during 2nd century BC to commemorate the arrival of the Queen. The location of this temple is one of the most beautiful spots in the island situated by the side of the sea on a rocky cliff. The Kirinda inscription which refers to the enshrinement of a Tooth Relic in the Tissamaharama stupa was found around here.
